As the 2025 season ramps up, the energy and enthusiasm at this year’s tradeshows signal a promising year ahead. Industry professionals, growers, and retailers alike have gathered at events across the U.S. and beyond, sharing insights, showcasing innovations, and fostering valuable connections. While challenges remain, the optimism among attendees and exhibitors suggests strong momentum heading into spring. Here’s what our team members had to say about their experiences!

Alec Charais – Chief Marketing & Product Management Officer

Each year, Bailey exhibits at IPM Essen in Germany, one of the world’s leading horticultural trade shows. You may not have realized that our consumer brands have an international presence, but since the early days of Endless Summer®, we’ve had the privilege of partnering with growers across the globe—from Europe to Asia to Australia.

IPM Essen attracts over 40,000 attendees annually, all eager to discover new trends, retail inspiration, innovative products, and advancements in mechanization and automation. Just as we do at home, we look forward to connecting with visitors about the latest innovations in Endless Summer® and First Editions®.

This year, FlowerWOW® (FlowerFull® in the U.S.) was a standout with growers, and in 2024, Eclipse® earned the prestigious People’s Choice Award for Best Novelty.

If you’re passionate about horticulture—and I know you are—I encourage you to experience IPM Essen for yourself. It’s an event like no other!

Nick Stevens – Sales Manager Eastern Region

Tradeshows this winter have been very well attended.  While most in the industry can agree the last two years have been challenging, optimism is high heading into spring.  Our customers and competitors alike are noticing similar trends – shrub demand remains strong, while shade tree demand is slightly lagging.

FlowerFull® has been the star of our displays this winter, attracting significant interest from attendees.  I must have repeated FlowerFull® talking points hundreds of times during the three trade shows I have attended!

Nord has done a phenomenal job of producing and shipping top quality plant material for these shows.  Without a doubt, we have had the highest quality plants on the show floor at every event I have attended.

Carlton Davidson – Sales Manager Western Region

During January, I attended two trade shows: Montana Green Expo and Colorado’s ProGreen Expo. A common thread between the two events was the enthusiasm among attendees, particularly at ProGreen, where both attendees and exhibitors felt the upbeat traffic and energy. This is a positive sign for the Denver market, where the industry has experienced some stagnation over the past two years due to weather and water woes, positioning us for a strong 2025.

Having been in the industry for nearly 30 years, I’ve often heard discussions about its next generation. However, both trade shows alleviated those concerns. The presence of young nursery owners and dynamic management teams was particularly encouraging; these emerging leaders are eager and well-prepared to shape the future of our industry.

I haven’t attended a trade show in over 20 years, and a lot has changed. The once formal atmosphere—characterized by strict attire, rigid order taking, and conventional engagement—has given way to a more relaxed, outgoing, and networking-focused experience. This shift has been especially beneficial for me as I immerse myself in sales for Bailey Nurseries.

Bailey’s is fortunate to have knowledgeable, approachable, and respected sales representatives. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Scott’s and Eric’s interactions with customers; their camaraderie and friendly engagement truly make a positive difference for our clientele.

Looking Ahead

As we reflect on last season’s trade shows, one thing is clear—our industry is brimming with opportunity. The enthusiasm from both seasoned professionals and the next generation of leaders is a strong indicator of growth and innovation ahead. With standout products like Hydrangea FlowerFull® gaining traction and a renewed energy in key markets, we are committed to providing the resources, expertise, and quality products that help our customers succeed in the years to come.
